I am feeling really lucky this week.
Firstly I received 3 balls of the new KPC 100% cashmere 4 ply in colour wheat. I’ve never knitted with a cashmere before and so this was a first. The yarn is incredibly soft and luxurious and so I felt that this needed a special pattern.
I decided to knit the Ashton Shawlette by Dee O'Keefe. The pattern is available for free here on Ravelry. If you do not have a Ravely account, just register for free and thank me later!
This pattern comes with comprehensive 12 page instructions and charts. So this is ideal for those starting out with chart knitting or that wish to give it a try. I have used charts before and found these charts easy to follow and very clear. Ideally, the Ashton should be knitting in a laceweight or fingering, but I felt that the stitch definition in the cashmere would work quite well and also make for a warmer shawlette.
I am currently about 90% done and am hoping to finish for the launch of the KPC yarns on Sunday. That’s if I don’t run into any snags along the way. I will also need to wash and block the shawl before then so time is ticking.
Just look at the lovely heart shape design in the pattern.
The cashmere will be available in lace, 4 ply and dk in 25g balls and up to 40 colours starting at HK$138 a ball. If you have something special to knit, I would highly recommend this yarn.
The cashmere is not all that I received. KPC was kind enough to deliver bags and bags of their new yarn, 1 ball of each colour. I am dying to try them all out but will need a pattern where I can use a lot of different colours. I will do a little search on Ravelry and will report back next week.
Just look at all these colours and this is just one box of many!
Let me know if you have any ideas or have any previous projects that used scraps or single balls and share your pictures. I’d love to see them!
